LUXURY SELECTION, Higher Quality (Top 4.0%)

This time, I stayed in a Premium Room with Onsen View Bath at the Nanki-Shirahama Marriott Hotel and truly experienced the advantages of an indoor bath.

One of the highlights was enjoying a luxurious time that offers a different level of indulgence compared to outdoor baths! The serene ambiance, combined with breathtaking views of the ocean, created a perfect retreat for relaxation.

The Nanki-Shirahama Marriott Hotel is situated on a slight elevation, offering stunning views from the guest rooms. Enjoy breathtaking ocean views, making it the perfect spot to relax in a resort-like atmosphere. Just a three-minute walk away lies Shirarahama Beach, one of Kansai’s most beautiful beaches.

This beach has been recognized as one of Japan’s “Top 100 Beautiful Bathing Beaches” and is said to have a sister relationship with Hawaii’s Waikiki Beach. It’s an ideal location for enjoying summer seaside activities!

In 2024, I stayed again after becoming a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum member, so I will also share details about the Platinum benefits I enjoyed during my stay!

Kansai’s Premier Resort: Nanki Shirahama

Shirahama boasts its own airport, Nanki Shirahama Airport, making it possible to reach the area in approximately 75 minutes from Tokyo (Haneda Airport). The hotel is just a 10-minute taxi ride from the airport, allowing you to dive straight into your resort lifestyle.

Additionally, travelers from Osaka can reach Shirahama by car or train in about 2 to 3 hours, making it convenient for those arriving at Kansai International Airport or Itami Airport.

However, be aware that during the summer holiday season, Shirarahama Beach attracts many Japanese tourists, so early reservations are highly recommended to secure your stay!

A Elegant Moment at the Hotel Lounge

During my stay at the Nanki-Shirahama Marriott Hotel, I arrived a bit earlier than expected, but I was genuinely touched by the staff’s kindness. Upon entering the lobby, I was warmly greeted with a smile and informed, “We will guide you to your room as soon as it’s ready!”

This friendly reception made me feel welcomed right away. I spent a leisurely time in the lounge on the first floor, enjoying the elegant ambiance and a sense of tranquility.

While I enjoyed the seasonal cake set, the staff informed me, “Your room is ready, so we can guide you whenever you like.” Thanks to their attentive service, I was able to check in an hour earlier than my reserved time!

Additionally, during my 2024 stay as a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum member, I enjoyed a late check-out at 16:00 and access to the exclusive lounge, which greatly enhanced my experience.

In the members-only lounge, you can enjoy light snacks and drinks! This exclusive area offers a delightful selection that enhances the overall experience, making it a perfect spot to unwind and relax during your stay.

Here’s an English version of your description of the Ocean View Onsen Room at the Nanki-Shirahama Marriott Hotel:

Breathtaking Ocean View Onsen Room

During my stay, I booked a Premium Room with Onsen View Bath on the 8th floor. Thanks to its elevated position above the surrounding area, the room offers stunning views.

The room features a king-size bed, a sofa, a desk, and, at the back, the view bath with an onsen.

The large television is built into the wall, and the overall design maintains a cohesive wood grain aesthetic, creating a modern and inviting atmosphere.

After enjoying the onsen, I could relax on the sofa in my bathrobe, and after a short while, I could easily return for another soak. This luxurious setup allowed for a truly indulgent experience!

Near the entrance, I found two bottles of mineral water, along with coffee and tea. The “Nagisa Beer” in the photo is a local specialty from Shirahama, which I purchased at a nearby convenience store.

The refrigerator was empty, so I chilled the beer for a refreshing drink after soaking in the onsen.

The view bath does not have a shower, so to wash up, guests can use the other bathroom in the room.

However, the hotel’s top floor features a large onsen bath and an open-air bath, which do include shower facilities for washing.

The main view bath (onsen) is spacious enough for two adults to relax comfortably, although it may not be evident in the photos. It features a continuous flow of hot spring water, creating a soothing sound that can be heard from within the room, enhancing the overall relaxing atmosphere.

In outdoor baths, especially outside of winter, it’s common to encounter insects. However, with an indoor bath, you can enjoy the onsen without the worry of bugs coming in, making it a perfect option for those who dislike insects.

This ensures a comfortable and relaxing experience while soaking in the hot spring.

You’ll also get to enjoy a breathtaking sunset during your stay, making the experience even more memorable.

The view from the hotel or nearby beaches like Shirarahama Beach offers stunning sunsets that light up the sky with vivid colors, leaving you with a sense of serenity and fulfillment. It’s the perfect way to end a day filled with luxurious relaxation and exciting adventures!

Refined Japanese Dinner at Grill & Dining G

I had the pleasure of enjoying a recommended kaiseki meal at the restaurant “Grill & Dining G,” located on the third floor of the hotel.

The flavors exceeded my expectations, leaving me truly impressed!

Along with the course, I ordered a drink. Since Wakayama is famous for its plums, I chose “plums wine.”

The fruity aroma and balanced acidity of the plum wine complemented the meal beautifully without being overly sweet.

Appetizer: Seasonal Assortment
Presented in a beautiful dish adorned with petals, the appetizer featured gentle flavors derived from Japanese ingredients. A delicious appetizer always heightens the anticipation for the dishes to follow.

Sashimi: Assorted Fresh Fish of the Day
Featuring tuna, amberjack, squid, and sea bream, the thick, fresh sashimi was satisfying and delicious!

Hot Pot: Spring Vegetable Small Pot
This pot included clams, shrimp, sea bream, and young buds. The concentrated flavors of seafood essence were outstanding, and I finished every drop of the broth!

Grilled Dish: Turban Shell Butter Grill with Garlic Flavor
A dish reminiscent of ajillo, featuring Turban Shell with its liver. It was a perfect accompaniment to the drinks.

Main Dish: Grilled Domestic Beef and Bamboo Shoots
The wasabi sauce and the aroma of sansho leaves enhanced the flavor of the meat beautifully!

Vinegared Dish: Grilled Spanish Mackerel with Kombu
Rice: Ume Hijiki Rice, Red Miso Soup, Pickles

A perfect ending menu, and I was thrilled to see Spanish mackerel included!

Dessert: Seasonal Fruit
The jelly had a strong strawberry flavor that surprised me. It was a refreshing dessert, perfect for early summer. For my drink, I could choose between coffee and “Kawazoe tea,” a local specialty from Shirahama. I opted for the tea, which was light and delightful.

Conclusion

In this article, I have focused on the luxurious experience of staying in the “Premium Room with an Onsen View Bath” at the Nanki Shirahama Marriott Hotel. For me, the highlight was being able to relax in a private onsen bath whenever I wanted, right from the comfort of my room!

I hope this article serves as a helpful reference for those planning a trip to Shirahama. Enjoy your travels!

Just a 10-minute drive from the Nanki Shirahama Marriott Hotel, you’ll find Adventure World, a must-visit destination that adds excitement to your trip. This popular attraction is known for its adorable pandas, which you can view up close without the long wait times typical of other zoos.

Additionally, don’t miss out on the dolphin show, which is known for its heartwarming and impressive performances. It’s sure to leave lasting memories for your visit!

This combination of relaxing at the hotel and exploring Adventure World makes for a well-rounded, unforgettable vacation.
